“An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest”. ~ Benjamin Franklin
All professionals, be they doctors, lawyers, coaches mentors etc. know that when you invest in yourself, and or your business, you are doing something powerful to grow personally and professionally. That time, energy and financial investment is priceless. Any client who has worked with professionals has experienced the difference and attests to the value of working with someone who is a professional and passionate about Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
That is why the IAPC&M, as a professional coaching & mentoring accreditation body, heavily invests in CPD, most of which is complimentary to you, even if you’re not yet accredited. It’s one of our core values that everyone matters, and we believe it’s one of the ways we make a positive difference in our international coaching and mentoring community.
Check out our new online calendar of CPD masterclasses on our events page which changes weekly.
“A whopping 87% of Millennials say that CPD and career growth are significant to them. And since Millennials have surpassed Gen Xers as the largest generation in the U.S. labor force, this is a statistic that just can’t be ignored” say Shifte Learning full stop
So what is CPD and why is it important?
CPD means Continuing Professional Development and it can be fun. Of course, CPD is the European term. Our friends in the US refer to it as CEC (Continuing Education Courses).
CPD means taking time out, regularly, to do something that develops you and your business. This will help you keep your skills on-point and up-to-date in our industry. This CPD habit ensures you continue to practise efficiently and effectively for the benefit of your coaching/mentoring clients.
We’re not prescriptive about what constitutes CPD. Provided you are investing in yourself personally and professionally, and are recording it on your CPD log, you can demonstrate there is input/output, it is CPD.
CPD could be watching videos, listening to podcasts, TedTalks, seminars, webinars, workshops etc. and reading blogs, reports, surveys books and so forth.
If you don’t yet keep a record of your CPD hours, you can start now by downloading our complimentary log here. Your CPD record must show how you have applied your learning to your professional practice.
